Creed and St Just Turnpike Trust (updated 24^th Sept 2013)

This trust was created in 1762 to turnpike the roads leading along the Roseland peninsular on the eastern side of the River Fal.

Tregony 1805

An Act to continue the Term, and alter and enlarge the Powers of Two Acts, passed in the Second and Twenty-fourth Years of His present Majesty, for repairing the Road from the Lostwithiel Turnpike Road, through Tregony, to Ruan Lanehorne, and from Dennis Water to Three hundred Yards on the South Side of Trethim Mill, in the County of Cornwall. [5th June 1805.]

William Moorman of Falmouth (clerk to the trust) reported

There are 17 miles 7 furl, 6pl of road thru 8 parishes – all repaired by the trustees

8 toll gates

The roads are stated to be in “bad” condition – no part under indictment for want of repair.

Denas Water Road; From Denas Water (SW of Probus) on A3078 (part now A30 by-pass), SE towards Tregony (Trethim Mill) (about 4 miles)

Gerrans Road; As the B3287 from jct with A390 at Hewas Water, Sticker, SW to Tregony, then as A3078 to Trewithian and then UC branch to Gerrans with a short branch of 1 furlong into St Just parish on A3078(about 13 miles).
